Cortijo La Hoya’s Memories

Being an early 20th century Andaluz farm house, Cortijo La Hoya and its three casitas are steeped in history and fond memories. Cortijo la Hoya was originally the main farm house of a large cattle farm situated in what is now the Los Alcornocales Natural Park, remaining cattle, cork and farms. The homestead was brought back to life by Fabiola in the 1980s and opened her doors for rentals in the late 90s.

The three delightful semi-detached cottages or casitas, Casa Luna, Casa Sol and Casa Tramontana are named after the moon, the sun and the wind blowing. All are very typical natural elements of this part of Spain. The casitas boast breathtaking views across the Strait of Gibraltar to Africa and are a short 10-minute drive to the excitement of Tarifa.

Fabiola Dominguez Larios chose this particular location in the 60s. Her mother was located nearby and her family has had a connection to the Cadiz region for many generations.

Fabiola’s pride and joy is her garden. Having lived in England for several years, Fabiola has taken a lot of her inspiration from England. This combined with the pristine natural setting of the Alcornocales Natural Park give the garden at Cortijo la Hoya a unique touch, which only enhances the tranquillity and peace of the place.

Situated in Fabiola’s spectacular garden is the stunning infinity pool with its views across the Mediterranean, Strait of Gibraltar and Morocco. Enjoying a cup of tea from your patio over looking the pool and taking in the fresh sea breeze as you gaze out over the mountains of Africa is a truly unique experience. It is in this moment at Cortijo La Hoya when you escape from it all.

Relaxation is not the only thing on the agenda at Cortijo La Hoya. Being situated 10 minutes from Tarifa, there are plenty of activities to get your blood pumping. The most popular is kitesurfing or windsurfing, but the most accessible from us at Cortijo La Hoya is mountain biking. Perhaps you can take a ride into Tarifa along the Estrecho?

Cortijo La Hoya’s unique setting makes it an ideal place for a short or long term stay or for a special event.
